TLDR;
It has been a while since the last post. Anyways, I am here to share my findings with everyone. I am an individual with AuDHD-C. What does that mean; well, it is something I built upon during my research.ADHD:
Yesterday, I was in a bit of a dark place, I hated having ADHD and I hate having to rely on medications to suppress the symptoms of ADHD. So, I was doing a lot research, I was looking at gene therapies I could do to help; however, there were none available as ADHD is polygenic. This means there are hundreds or thousands of genes involved with ADHD. While connecting the dots, I realized that this had to of taken millions of years to develop, way before the Genus Homo built shelters or weapons and where natural selection was the enemy. This got me thinking further that if ADHD survived then it must of had some sort of survivability perk and so, I asked the unreliable Google AI Overview (Don't think I didn't forget how it said we should use glue to prevent pizza sauce from sliding off the pizza) about it and it made some logical points. With ADHD individuals, they have a knack for novelty and that they can get distracted quite easily. This benefits humans since these individuals could spot anything wrong a lot more efficient compared to the neurotypical person. Such as spotting predators, or a possible ambush. With being a novelty, they enjoy exploring new territory and experiencing new sensations. This is beneficial as it helped prevent starvation, finding new spots for hunting and foraging. ADHD individuals may be the reason us humans today conquered the world. That part is a theory and there is no evidence that that is the case. However, it's still an interesting subject to think about.
Autism:
Just like ADHD, Autism is also polygenic so just like ADHD, it had a lot of time. This also means that if Autism was a disadvantage, natural selection would of eliminated the problem; however, it didn't. Autism individuals are problem solvers, figuring out patterns, and enjoying predictability--predictability often increases survival rate of a species when they are familiar with an area. Autism individuals also have heightened senses compared to others so they could easily and quickly react to any predators close by.
New Key Terms:
With my findings, I learned of a new term called AuDHD. It's not official but it is an individual with both Autism and ADHD. There is also ADHD-C, which I learned that it means that it is something that is both hyper and has attention deficit. The C stands for "combined". I decided to forge a new term from it called AuDHD-C, which means an individual with both autism and ADHD-C. Besides that, I decided to come up with other terms:
AuDHD-A = An individual with Autism and ADHD where attention-deficit is the dominant
AuDHD-B = An individual with Autism and ADHD where hyperness is the dominant
AuDHD-C = An individual with Autism and ADHD where a combination of hyperness and attention-deficit is present.
What is cool is how all this fits quite well. I named these terms based on position and a bit of alphabetical order.
Conclusion:
I don't wish for anyone to see Autism, ADHD, or AuDHD as a disability of a disadvantage, you are unique and are skilled in areas that not just anyone can do.
